1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly and information generated as you use the service:

• Account information: name, email address, profile picture, language and theme preferences.
• Billing information: subscription tier, credit balance, and payment records. Card details are handled by our payment processor and never stored on our servers.
• Creative content: scripts, series and episode structures, plays, characters, notes, uploaded reference documents, and any text you generate with AI assistance.
• Communications: support requests, messages sent to our Obibini support assistant, and staff or team chat messages, including attachments and voice notes.
• Audio: short voice recordings created when you use dictation or voice notes, and text you submit for read-aloud or table read playback.
• Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, timestamps, and usage analytics needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve SOY ScriptWriter™ features, including AI-assisted writing, ideation chat, dictation, and table read.
• Process payments, credits, and subscriptions (Free, Pro Solo, Team, and School) and enforce plan limits.
• Operate support channels, including the Obibini assistant and staff messaging.
• Send service updates, security notices, and — only with consent — marketing communications.
• Detect abuse, protect account security, and comply with legal obligations under Canadian federal and British Columbia law.

3. Ownership of Your Creative Work

You retain full ownership and copyright of every script, series, play, character, and note you create using SOY ScriptWriter™. We do not claim rights to your work, we do not publish it, and we do not use your creative content to train AI models.

4. AI Processing

When you use AI features — script generation, the Ideas Chat, the Obibini support assistant, dictation transcription, or text-to-speech — the relevant prompt, project context, or audio is transmitted to our AI providers solely to produce the result you requested. Providers process this data on our behalf under contract and are not permitted to use it to train their models.

5. Disclosure to Third Parties

We disclose personal information only to trusted service providers — payment processing, cloud hosting and database services, email delivery, and AI model providers — who are contractually obligated to protect it and use it only to deliver the service. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.

6. Data Storage, Transfers, and Retention

Data may be processed and stored on servers located in Canada and other jurisdictions. Where data is transferred outside Canada, comparable protections apply through contractual safeguards consistent with PIPEDA and PIPA guidance. We keep your content for as long as your account is active. If you delete a project it is removed from your workspace; if you delete your account, your personal data and creative content are deleted within 30 days, except records we must retain for tax, accounting, or legal purposes.

7. Cookies and Analytics

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember preferences such as theme and language. Optional analytics cookies help us understand how the app is used. You can accept or decline optional cookies through the cookie notice, and change your choice at any time by clearing site data.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — encryption in transit, encrypted at-rest storage, role-based access control, row-level security on all user data, and automatic sign-out after inactivity in administrative areas — to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss. No system is perfectly secure, so we also ask you to use a strong, unique password.

9. Team, School, and Shared Workspaces

If you join a Team or School workspace, the workspace owner or administrator can see membership, plan usage, and projects shared into that workspace. They cannot read your private projects outside the shared workspace. For School plans, the educational institution acts as the data controller for its student users.

10. Your Rights

Under PIPEDA and BC PIPA, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Withdraw consent for non-essential processing at any time, including unsubscribing from email.
• Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
• Request a copy of your creative work in a portable format (PDF, DOCX, or Fountain export).
• File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

11. Children

SOY ScriptWriter™ is not directed to children under 13. For School plans, the educational institution is responsible for obtaining any required parental consent before students use the service.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the service or by email. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the most recent revision.
